This hybrid Mini‑SAS assembly connects a 36‑position SFF‑8644 Mini‑SAS HD external port to a 36‑position SFF‑8087 internal Mini‑SAS header, providing a straight‑through x4 link between RAID/HBA controllers and internal backplanes, expanders, or drive cages. It is used for server‑to‑shelf jumpers and chassis “stacking” where the controller is exposed externally and the storage resides inside the enclosure. Signaling is limited by the SFF‑8087 interface, operating up to SAS 2.0 at 6 Gb/s per lane with backward compatibility to 3G; SATA traffic can pass through a SAS path when supported by the host and enclosure.
Farsince builds the cable with 28 AWG low‑skew twinax pairs, individually shielded with an overall foil/braid to control EMI in dense racks. The metal‑shell SFF‑8644 plug uses a pull‑tab latch for secure, tool‑less handling, while the SFF‑8087 features a positive locking latch for stable mating to backplanes. For platforms that require cable authentication, an ID/EEPROM option is available on the HD side. Standard lengths cover common rack runs, and we support OEM customization for length, gauge, labeling, over‑braid and harness integration to match project BOMs and routing.
